GEOMETRY MEETS MATERIAL
THREE-DIMENSIONAL
CONNECTED NETWORK
More interface.
Less compromise.
The alternating corrugated layers form continuous channels through the packed bed. That geometry promotes liquid spreading and vapour access while retaining the corrosion behaviour of silicon carbide across the full structure.

CONSTRUCTION, IN DETAIL

takes shape.
A closer look at the structure behind Armour Packing — from the SiC wire-mesh geometry and alternating layer orientation to module assembly and column installation.

01 · MACRO DETAIL
Corrugation and aperture
Every detail is engineered to preserve open flow paths, effective gas–liquid contact and structural stability in severe process environments.
02 · WORKSHOP
Module Assembly
Corrugated SiC sheets are assembled in alternating orientations to create continuous three-dimensional gas–liquid flow channels. Modules can be segmented according to column diameter and manway dimensions for site installation.

03 · SITE INSTALLATION
Column Installation
Segmented modules are positioned layer by layer inside the column. PTFE wall-flow control rings can be incorporated according to tower geometry and process requirements.

THE DESIGN LOGIC
One structure.
Two advantages.
01
02
Wire-mesh geometry
Layered corrugations, connected flow paths and large gas–liquid contact interface—designed for demanding separation duties.

Frequently Asked Engineering Questions
What information is required to select structured packing?
Medium composition, concentration, operating temperature, pressure, column diameter, liquid and gas loads, current packing and existing operating problems are the most useful starting points.
Can Armour Packing replace metal structured packing?
In suitable corrosive applications, SiC structured packing can provide an alternative to conventional metallic or high-alloy packing.
Final selection depends on both material compatibility and hydraulic requirements.
Can the packing be customized for different column diameters?
Yes. Packing elements can be segmented and configured according to column diameter, internal geometry, manway dimensions and installation requirements.
Do you provide packing selection and application support?
Yes. Armour Packing can evaluate material suitability and packing configuration based on the process conditions and column information provided.
